The 1-9000 small are used by the child on their own desk once they have been introduced to the Golden Bead Material.
The teacher works with
1-9000 Large first and when the child
understands the written symbols for units, tens, hundreds and thousands they can then work on the
1-9000 small on their own at their desk.
